Put your site on your own domain
Every Hostlo site has a free address like bakery.hostlo.site. On the Pro plan you can also connect up to 5 domains you already own, and Hostlo issues and renews their HTTPS certificates.
Ask for it
Tell your assistant: “Put my site on example.com.” It connects the domain and shows you the records to add where your domain's DNS is managed: a CNAME record that points the name at Hostlo, and TXT records that prove the domain is yours and let the certificate be issued. If your DNS is on Cloudflare, the steps come in Cloudflare's own words.
Your old site stays up during the move
The certificate is issued from the TXT records before you change the CNAME, so the old site keeps working until the moment you switch.
Check on it any time
DNS changes can take a while to spread. Ask “Is my domain ready?” and the assistant says which step it is at and what comes next. Once the domain is live, the free address redirects to it, so search engines index one copy of your site.
Subdomains work too
You can connect a name such as blog.example.com or www.example.com with any DNS provider. A bare domain such as example.com needs a provider that supports CNAME flattening or ALIAS records, as Cloudflare does. If yours does not, connect the www name and have your provider redirect the bare domain to it.
If your plan ends
Your domain keeps working for 14 days, then it is disconnected. The site stays online at its free address the whole time, and paying again within the 14 days keeps the domain.
