Move an existing website to Hostlo
If you already have a website, your assistant can copy it into Hostlo for you: a WordPress site, a static site, or, when the old hosting is gone, the copy the Wayback Machine saved.
Ask for it
“Copy my site example.com to Hostlo.” Hostlo finds the pages through the site's sitemap and its links, and copies each page with its styles, scripts, images, fonts and PDFs. Links between your pages are changed so the copy works at its new address, and WordPress parts nobody reads, such as the login and admin pages, are left out.
What to expect
- Up to 150 pages in one import. A large site carries on in the background, and the assistant can tell you how far it got.
- A report at the end: what was copied, what was left out, and why.
- The import is one change in the site's history, so it can be undone like any other.
What does not come across
The copy is a static website: pages and files, not the software that ran your old site. Comments, search, a shop or anything else that needed your old server will not work. A contact form can be added again with Hostlo's own forms.
When a site refuses to be copied
Many sites block automated copying, and Hostlo does not try to get around that. Your assistant can read the pages with its own tools, such as a browser, and publish them instead.
