Terms

Plain language, because you should be able to read this in two minutes.

Hostlo is operated by Innolabs Pte. Ltd., Singapore.

What Hostlo does

We host static websites: pages, images and PDFs that you publish by talking to an AI assistant. We are not a general file store, and we do not run code for you.

Your account

One account, one email address, no password: you log in with a code we email you. Keep access to that mailbox, because whoever can read it can reach your sites. Tell us and we will close your account and delete its sites.

Plans and payment

Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your card. A subscription renews automatically until you cancel it, and the price you signed up at stays until we tell you otherwise by email, at least 30 days in advance.

Cancelling and refunds

Changed your mind about Pro in the first 14 days? Write to us and we refund the whole thing, no questions. That applies to your first subscription payment, and it is on top of any right your own country gives you.

A domain name is different, and we would rather say so before you buy than after. When you buy a domain through us, we pay the registry for it the moment it is registered in your name, and that money is gone whether you keep the name or not. So a domain is not refundable once it is registered, and neither is a renewal once it has gone through. Two things we do promise: if we cannot register the name, for any reason, you get every cent back the same day; and the name is yours, so you can move it to another registrar instead of asking for money back. Check the spelling before you confirm. We will show it to you one more time.

After that, cancel any time from the billing page: your Pro plan runs to the end of the period you already paid for, and is not renewed. We do not refund the remainder of a period you cancel part way through. If something on our side went wrong, write to us anyway: we would rather refund you than argue.

When a payment fails

Stripe retries a failed card for a while and your sites stay on Pro during that time. If it still cannot be charged, the account returns to the free plan.

What happens on the free plan

Nothing is deleted. Sites over the free limits keep being served exactly as they are, the badge comes back, and you cannot add a site or grow one past the free limits until you are under them again. A custom domain stops being served 14 days after the plan ends; a domain you own stays yours, and the site keeps its free name address the whole time.

Buying a domain through us

Not available yet. When it is, this is how it will work, and you can read it before you decide.

What it costs. We pass the registry and ICANN price through at cost, exactly what our registrar charges us, and add $5 a year for registering the name, keeping its records right and renewing it. Both lines are shown before you pay, so you always know which part is ours. Some names, the ones registries call premium, cost far more than the usual price; we show you that price and you can walk away.

It renews by itself, a year at a time. A domain is billed as its own yearly subscription, at the same cost plus $5, and Stripe emails you before each charge. Cancel it whenever you like and we stop the renewal; we do not need a reason and we will not make it difficult. The charge lands well before the domain's expiry date, so if a card fails there is time to fix it while the name is still safe.

Whose name it is. Yours. You are the registrant on record, with your own name and email. We hold the registrar account that the name sits in, which is how we can wire it to your site without you touching DNS. ICANN requires the contact details to be real and current; a name with false details can be suspended, and that is the registry's rule, not ours.

Taking it somewhere else. Whenever you want. Ask us and we send the transfer code within two working days, at no charge. Two things are outside our control and worth knowing before you buy: a domain cannot be transferred in the first 60 days after it is registered, or in the 60 days after its registrant changes, because ICANN says so; and if you later want to bring it back to us, the domain has to be on Cloudflare's DNS first, so write to us and we will walk you through it rather than leaving you to guess.

If you stop paying for it. We stop the renewal, and the name simply expires on its date unless you renew it somewhere else. We will tell you, more than once, with enough time to move it. What we will not do is keep charging you for a name you cancelled, or quietly keep a name you paid for.

Refunds. See above: once a name is registered it cannot be refunded, and if we cannot register it you get everything back the same day.

Your content

Your files stay yours. You give us only what we need to run the service: to store your files and send them to the people who visit your site. You are responsible for what you publish and for having the right to publish it.

Fair use

There is no traffic meter on your site, and we would rather keep it that way. What we ask in return is that a site stays a site: up to about 100 GB of traffic a month, and files that belong on a web page. Hostlo is not a video host, a download mirror, a backup drive or a content delivery network for someone else's application. If a site goes far past that, we write to you first and work it out; we do not send a surprise bill.

What you may not publish

No phishing or malware, nothing that impersonates someone else, no content that is illegal where we operate, and nothing designed to abuse other people or our servers. We may take a site down when it breaks this, and will tell you why. Anyone can report a site at hostlo.ai/report; a person reads every report.

Report a site that breaks these rules: abuse@hostlo.ai.

When someone asks us to remove a site or hand over data

Only the rules above, and orders that bind us, decide what comes down. We do not remove a lawful site because a company, a government or anyone else dislikes what it says, and we do not act on a request just because it sounds official.

What we promise, and what we don't

Hostlo is young. We look after it carefully, we keep every version of your files so you can roll back, and we tell you honestly when something breaks. We do not promise an uptime figure, and we are not liable for lost business. If that is not enough for what you are building, please use something older than us.

Changes

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we email you before it takes effect.

Which law applies

Hostlo is run from Singapore by Innolabs Pte. Ltd. These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have jurisdiction over any dispute about them. If you are a consumer at home somewhere else, this does not take away rights your own country gives you.
